We are saying goodbye to the current structure of PIE. For the past four years, PIE has been led by Cyrah Dardas , Kiara Ambrose , and Jose Rivas in a co-leadership model. However, with major shifts in the local and national philanthropy and education landscape, PIE has found itself in a position where sustaining salaried work is not feasible. We have closed out all salaried roles at PIE as of May 1st, 2026.
We celebrate their individual and collective efforts to evolve PIE and the core principles of Curiosity, Connection, and Reflection present in our education ecosystem. We know, as we’ve always learned, that what is most powerful about our work is the way it continues to live on in people, in relationships.
While under the leadership of Cyrah, Kiara, and Jose, PIE has transformed in many ways, including:
“Tracing Our Roots” partnership with Detroit Public Community Schools District
Youth Development Quality Standards Guidebook project with YDRC
At this point, People in Education is taking time to pause and consider its next steps. This summer, we will be publishing some of the resources we’ve created in the last year, so they are open to the public.
The work of People In Education is a result of so many people, and we are grateful for the lasting community and partnerships that have made it relevant for over 15 years.
Thank you,
PIE Advisory Board
