She spent the early part of her career as a high school math teacher, dance coach. She later transitioned to a math training and support coordinator where she coached classroom teachers. She first attended PIE’s RIDA Institute in 2017, where she began the journey to embody the essence of teaching the whole human being. His work is shaped by his work as and with young people in classrooms and under trees. Nate’s work thrives at the intersection of art, education and people. For over ten years, he has worked with youth and adults to develop learning spaces that move us all towards wholeness. Nate joined Allied Media Projects in 2011 as part of the founding team of Detroit Future Schools. Nate served as the Director from 2014 until 2019, and under his leadership the organization rebranded to People In Education in 2017. He is now supporting PIE’s work as a Special Advisor. She loves working at the intersection of youth development, education and social justice. Prior to this role, she served as a program officer for The Skillman Foundation and as an evaluation and learning fellow with the Council of Michigan Foundations. Additionally, she's held a variety of roles in the social sector, ranging from conducting early childhood research to working as a summer camp counselor. She has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in social work and education from Michigan State University. She is a lover of yoga, cooking, and keeping up on the latest research on the science of learning.
